ACOUSTIC FINGERS at No Black Tie

It should be no secret now that No Black Tie has reopened! For those of you who missed out on the No Black Tie experience, it was a wonderful little secluded place on Lorong Mesui where many of us musicians cut our teeth.

Jazz, blues, rock, classical and us singer songwriter folkies loved that place because it was a musicians' bar par excellence. The acoustics were amazing, the crowd 100% appreciative and the vibe earthy and fab. Operated by Evelyn Hii, the original No Black Tie closed down sometime in early 2004.

But NBT has reopened just last week, on the same street, just a few shops down. And it's bigger, better and really quite special. Musicians and music lovers will absolutely love this space!

To sort of baptise the space and imbue the walls of the new venue with loadsa nutritious music, there'll be a series of small gigs taking place next week starting Tuesday. If I'm not mistaken, the nights will be: Tuesday-jazz, Wednesday-blues, Thursday-classical, Friday-singer songwriters and Saturday-Unclogged.

Which brings us to this bit of happy news: we've been asked to organise the inaugural singer songwriters night at the new NBT on Friday 11 November called Acoustic Fingers. So far the confirmed acts are Azmyl Yunor, Peter Hassan Brown, Izuan Shah, Reza Salleh, Izzy, Shana, Jasemaine Gan, Mils, Shanon Shah, Zalila Lee, Meor, Kevin (Broken Scar), Tan Sei Hon and Jerome Kugan, with more to come. It's going to be a simple informal night structured like a singathon.

Hurray to the return of No Black Tie! See you there!
