MEOR: UPDATE*

Meor was released on Tuesday (6/12/2005) after a group of supporters successfully raised donations for his bail over the weekend. The bail was set at RM3,000 but was successfully appealed to RM1,300. Lukman, Black, Rahmat Haron and Meor's wife were present on the first day of his arrest to settle the paperwork. Thank you to the following who contributed to the bail appeal:

*Last Friday (2/12/2005) evening, at around 6pm, our singer-songwriter/busker friend Meor was arrested at Central Market. Meor was reportedly manhandled during his arrest while he was busking and was locked-up. Due to the technicality of an arrest on a Friday evening, he had to stay in jail over the weekend.

We were alerted by poet-artist Rahmat Haron on Friday via SMS:

Meor kena tahan operasi random pembersihan ****** ******, minta tolong raise fund untuk bail out. Dia ditahan sewaktu busking. Tq.

We deployed a donation appeal with Rahmat for Meor's bail over the weekend and successfully raised enough funds for it. Thank you all for your concerns and contributions.
